Who are they?
Experimental rockers Drop Down Smiling are back on the music scene with a brand new identity, built up of raunchy guitar riffs and electronic sampling. Being in the business for more than ten years, the English four piece know exactly how to make a killer record.
What do they sound like?
Bringing in to light their latest track ‘Why Should We Change’, listeners can witness the band’s previous success radiating through the tearing guitar riffs. Front-man Chris West’s vocals remain completely powerful to an extent that leaves fans hanging on every word. Their corresponding music video is certainly one to watch. Featuring a chess playing gorillas (yes you read that correctly) the track compliments the video (weirdly) quite well, giving us a sense of the guys’ sense of humour which has seemed to go down very well with the fans. ‘Why Should We Change’ is authoritative, anarchic and brilliantly epic.

Final verdict?
It’s certainly difficult in attempting to compare DDS to other established artists out there. They’re not too heavy, light years far from any indie disco influence and a combination of different genres – Drop Down Smiling are completely unique. Their high energy performances are sure to be one that kick starts a gig in fighting style, make-way for mosh pits, crowd surfers and emotional air punches.
Why should we change is taken from the “Sign Here – EP” which is OUT NOW and available from iTunes and all other good digital retailers.
